There must be a quicker response time with respect to investigations of fatal police shootings, according to Gillian Lucky, director of Trinidad’s Police Complaints Authority.

Both Lucky and Acting Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams agree on the proposition, he said, something that will be essential if the public’s confidence in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is to be restored.

Lucky met Monday with Williams to discuss several ongoing cases that have engaged the attention of the PCA.

The two groups intend to conduct weekly meetings to discuss the status of cases being investigated or monitored by the PCA involving fatal police shootings, among other matters.

The PCA is an independent review body that deals with complaints by the public about the conduct of police officers.
