The area around Milot, Haiti including the Sans Souci Palace is a “true gem,” according United Nations World Tourism Organization Secretary General Taleb Rifai.

Rifai was speaking during a visit to Milot on Sunday, joined by Haiti Tourism Minister Stephanie Villedrouin and other tourism officials.

The trip also included a stop at the Royal Chapel.

“This area is a true gem that the whole world should see,” Rifai said. “The message is that here is an important and unique destination in the Caribbean.”

Villedrouin said the visit by Rifai “opens other doors and opportunities for Haiti.”
