St Kitts and Nevis Governor General Sir Cuthbert Montraville Sebastian has appointed Raphael Archibald as the country’s new Supervisor of Elections, following a consultation with the Prime Minister, Premier and the Leader of the Opposition, according to a release Wednesday from Government House.
Archibald, a former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, began in the post on Tuesday.
His appointment followed the resignation last month by former Supervisor of Elections Leroy Benjamin, following a controversy over the local elections in Nevis in 2011.
That dispute, over disputed voter registrations, led to a case before the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal.
