Bahamas Prime Minister Perry Christie was on hand this week to officially open the new Blue Marlin Cove Resort and Marina at Bootle Bay in Grand Bahama.

The resort, which was originally constructed as a 30-unit condominium, is now a 30-suite condo-hotel with a private marina featuring 30 slips.

American owners Joe Rieger and Frank Levy have reportedly invested $10 million in the project.

The plan is to market the project as Grand Bahama’s premier bonefishing centre. Local bonefishing experts Tommy and Carl Rolle, the so-called “Bonefish Foley Sons,” will spearhead that drive.

Christie was joined by Tourism Minister and MP for West End and Bimini Obie Wilchcombe and Minister for Grand Bahama Dr Michael Darville.

“This government will do all in its power to revitalize and rebrand our tourism product on Grand Bahama,” Darville said.
