Digicel, which acquired Haiti’s Voila network earlier this year, will complete the integration of the network by Oct. 15, the company announced.

According to the company, the integration will expand the area of coverage for Voila customers, along with additional 4G data services.

“We here at Digicel are excited at the idea of welcoming Voila subscribers to our 4 million-subscriber family, and look forward to them enjoying the benefits of wider national coverage, 4G mobile internet service and especially a wide range of products and services at affordable prices,” Digicel CEO Damian Blackburn said in a statement.

Voila, formerly known as Communication Cellulaire d’Haiti, launched in Haiti in 1998. It was acquired by Digicel from parent company Trilogy International Partners in April.

Last year, Digicel Group CEO Colm Delves told Caribbean Journal that Haiti was the company’s biggest growth market, with more than 3.5 million at the time.

The company has been at the forefront of Haiti’s push to use mobile money technology for a significant population in the country that is currently unbanked.

The company partnered with Haiti’s government to distribute mobile money to victims of Tropical Storm Isaac last month.
