Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court Adds Two Appellate Judges

The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court has appointed two new Justices of Appeal in St Lucia.

Justices Louise Bledman and Mario Michel are the new members of the country, following a swearing-in ceremony on Monday.

Michel is a former Education Minister and High Court Judge in St Lucia.

“I want to assure everyone who has encouraged, supported and assisted me that I will continue to try throughout the remainder of my career as a judge to do the best that I can in all circumstances as I have always sought to do,” said. Michel, who began his legal career in 1984.

Bledman is a Guyanese national. Michel is a native of St Lucia. They were appointed by the Legal and Judicial Reviews Commission.

Both judges will be based in St Lucia.
