The government of Venezuela handed over a group of projects to Grenada this week, highlighted by the opening of a new bridge at Ford in St Andrew.
The bridge is one of three projects handed over this week, following the reconstruction of the St George’s Market and a pavilion on the grounds of the Roy St John playing field, also in St George’s.
All of the projects were completed with funding from Venezuela.
“We are very thankful to the government of Venezuela for their continued support,” Grenada Prime Minister Tillman Thomas said. “We also remain committed to deepening and strengthening our bilateral relations.”
The pavilion was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan and had not been reconstructed until now.
“[The St George’s Market] … will improve the ability of our vendors to meet the needs of their customers, in an environment that is conducive to doing business, while maintaining the colour, mood and character of this cultural attraction,” Thomas said.
