Curacao’s Jurickson Profar, Just 19, Hits Home Run in First Major League At-Bat

Curacao’s Jurickson Profar, a 19-year-old infielder for the Texas Rangers in Major League Baseball, hit a home run in his first-ever at-bat Sunday.

Profar, a top prospect for the Rangers, is a native of Willemsted. His home run

A switch-hitter, he was called up on Saturday.

Profar started and batted ninth for the Rangers, helping the squad top the Cleveland Indians by a score of 8-3.

He finished the day with a double and a home run in four at bats.

Profar is the latest in a line of strong baseball talent from Curacao, highlighted by current New York Yankees outfielder Andruw Jones, who has won 10 gold gloves in his career.
