Dominican Republic President Danilo Medina traveled Sunday to the country’s southern region to visit areas affected by Tropical Storm Isaac.

The storm brought heavy rains and strong winds to the Dominican Republic Friday and Saturday, particularly to the south.

Medina traveled by helicopter, joined by Public Works Minister Gonzalo Castillo, Agriculture Minister Luis Ramon Rodriguez, Administrative Minister Jose Ramon Peralta and Director of the National Water Resources Institute Olgo Fernandez.

The group flew over the Ocoa Cross bridge to the community of El Pilon in Las Carreras.

As in neighbouring Haiti, there were continued risks of flooding in the country.

At least two people have been reported dead due to the storm. There have also been a number of reports of damage to agriculture, roads and tracks across the country.
