Dominica Seeks Diaspora Investment

By the Caribbean Journal staff

Dominica is looking abroad for help in nation-building at home.

The island nation wants help from the diaspora, according to Minister for Constituency Empowerment Ambrose George.

“Dominicans living overseas can participate in the actual development of [the] country,” he said recently. “You can open up accounts at the credit unions and banks so that the money can circulate within the country. Those of you who have not built a home here in Dominica should consider buying some land and building a holiday home.”

He also pointed to opportunities in agriculture, including the possibility of diaspora Dominicans purchasing land for the purpose of facilitating tenant farming.

“There are many investment opportunities,” he said.
