Taiwan will continue its efforts to boost the Dominican Republic’s technological sector, Vice President Wu Den-yih said during a visit to Santo Domingo this week.

Wu, who was in the capital for the inauguration of President Danilo Medina, said the Dominican Republic had “great potential for further development” of its human capital.

The Vice President, who took office in January, also paid a visit to the three-million-square-foot Santo Domingo Cybernetic Park.

He was joined by a 40-member delegation from Taiwan.

Earlier this summer, Taiwan announced the donation of just under $900,000 to the park’s technology investment fund, which allocates resources for technology firms in the country.

“The Santo Domingo Cybernetic Park ecosystem has enjoyed the continued support of the government of the Republic of China, Taiwan,” said Eddy Martinez, the president of the park.

Taiwan has been heavily involved with the park’s development, beginning with the initial launch of construction in 1999.
