Newly-sworn-in Dominican Republic President Danilo Medina got right to work Thursday, announcing the composition of his new cabinet.

The new cabinet included some familiar faces from outgoing President Leonel Fernandez’ cabinet, led by Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso, along with several other ministers, including Police Minister Jose Ramon Fadul and Education Minister Josefina Pimentel.

In all, Medina retained eight cabinet ministers who had been serving under Fernandez.

The new Ministers were sworn in at a ceremony Thursday attended by Medina’s wife, Candy Montilla and their children.

Medina and Fernandez are both members of the Dominican Liberation Party.
