Former St Lucia Senator Dr Ubaldus Raymond, who resigned from the Senate earlier this month, has officially been announced as the new Chief Economist in Turks and Caicos.
Raymond, who earned a PhD from Howard University, was appointed by a four-member panel in Turks and Caicos after being named to a short list in April.
He succeeds Acting Chief Economist Steven Pollard.
“I am pleased that we were able to find someone of the caliber of Dr Raymond to fill the post of Chief Economist,” said Anya Williams, who chaired the interview panel. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the post. I look forward to working with Dr Raymond as we chart a course to an economically prosperous and fiscally prudent TCI.”

Raymond had also been serving as St Lucia’s Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development, Investment and Consumer Affairs.
St Lucia Prime Minister Dr Kenny Anthony said he “regretfully accepted” Raymond’s resignation.
