Jamaica concluded the Olympics in historic fashion, with Usain Bolt and the men’s 4×100 relay team taking home the gold medal on Saturday.
The Jamaican team finished in an astonishing 36.84, with a stellar series of turns, posting a new world record for the race.
That beat a national record time for the United States, led by Tyson Gay.
Canada was disqualified, moving Trinidad and Tobago into bronze medal position.
It was the second-straight time that Jamaica’s 4×100 squad broke the world record in an Olympics. It did the same in Beijing.
Jamaica has earned 12 medals in London, giving the country its largest-ever total at a single Olympics, topping the 11 it won in Beijing four years ago.
Jamaica’s squad included Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, Michael Frater and Nesta Carter.
It came just after Jamaica’s women’s 4×400 team took home the bronze.
