Haitian Olympian Samyr Laine has been named a global brand ambassador for clothing brand JJ Threads, the company announced.

The Olympian will be competing Thursday in the finals of the men’s Triple Jump competition, seeking Haiti’s first medal at the Games since 1928.

“I am excited to have been chosen as a brand ambassador,” Laine said.

The Harvard-educated Laine is the company’s first brand ambassador.

“We are really excited to have Samyr Laine represent JJ Threads internationally as our first brand ambassador,” said Founder Jay Wich. “Samyr’s athletic strength and philanthropic commitment to Haiti speaks internationally and is inspiring. We wish him the best of luck at the games.”

The internet-based JJ Threads specializes in custom-designed dress shirts. It is operated out of Hong Kong. It has made a similar agreement with the US Men’s Rowing Team.
