Sanya Richards-Ross, who was born in Kingston, Jamaica but grew up in the United States, has won the gold medal in the 400-metre women’s race in London.
Richards-Ross, who is married to National Football League cornerback Aaron Ross, has been a United States citizen since 2002.
The gold was the third of her career, following golds in Athens and Beijing.
Richards-Ross finished in 49.55, ahead of Great Britain’s Christine Ohuruogu and fellow American DeeDee Trotter.
Jamaicans Novlene Williams-Mills and Rosemarie Whyte also ran in the final, finishing fifth and eight, respectively.
