Cuba has won its second medal of the London 2012 Olympic Games, thanks to Asley Gonzalez, although the Caribbean region is still seeking its first London gold.

The 22-year-old native of Villa Clara earned a silver medal in the 90-kg weight class of Men’s judo, falling in the final to 33-year-old gold medalist Dae-Nam Song from South Korea.

Cuba’s first medal at the Games was another silver taken by Yanet Bermoy Acosta in the women’s judo final.

Cuba has a 110-athlete contingent in London.

Greece’s Ilias Iliadis and Japan’s Masashi Nishiyama shared the bronze.

Cuba’s Gonzalez is coached by Justo Noda.
