Grenada’s ruling National Democratic Congress will hold its convention at the end of September, the party announced Friday.

The convention had originally been set for July 8.

“The national executive, at its regular meeting on Thursday night, discussed several issues, including the scheduling of a new date for the convention,” said NDC Public Relations Officer Arley Gill. “It was agreed that the convention will be on Sunday, September 30.”

In May, the party postponed its original convention date, citing what Gill called taking care of “in-house matters to ensure that our operations as the governing party are enhanced and become more effective.”

The convention will include the election of officers to the NDC executive.

The party has seemed to experience internal turmoil this year, highlighted by the resignations of cabinet ministers Peter David and Karl Hood in April and May, respectively.
