Pio Garcia-Escudero Marquez, the president of the Spanish Senate, visited Panama for talks with new Minister of the Presidency Roberto Henriquez.

The two sides discussed preparations for the upcoming Ibero-American Summit, which will be held in the Spanish city of Cadiz in November.

The senator, who is on official business in the region, also spoke about the topic of the next Ibero-American to be held in Panama in 2013.

Marquez, during his visit to Panama, also met with authorities including Sergio Galvez, the president of the Legislative Branch in the country.

Henriquez was named Minister of the Presidency earlier this month following the resignation of Demetrio “Jimmy” Papadimitriu.
