Grenada’s government has reached a short list of architects for the country’s planned new House of Parliament.
According to Cecil Harris, Chief Technical Officer in the Ministry of Works, Public Utilities and Physical Development, seven architects are under consideration.
While seven firms are considered, only two hail from Grenada.
A competition to produce a design building for Grenada’s new Parliament Building will begin on July 26.
The competition will be followed by a meeting explaining the rules of the competition; the architects will then have eight weeks to produce their concepts.
Grenada’s Parliament currently meets at the Grenada Trade Centre. Its former Parliament Building was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004.
The list of architects under consideration is below:
GSAL Designs, Ltd (Trinidad)
Design Collaborative (Multiple countries including Jamaica, Trinidad)
Harold Morrison + Robert Woodstock (Jamaica)
Gillespie & Steel Architecture (Barbados)
ACLA Works (Trinidad)
COCOA (Grenada)
TVA Consultants, Ltd (Grenada)
