The Deep Blue hotel on the Caribbean island of Providencia off the coast of Colombia has reopened following a nearly two-year renovation.

The news was announced by Ecoteles Colombia SAS, a British-Colombian managed company.

“The remodeling took three times as long as expected, but a few days ago we finally opened the hotel,” said Christopher Hardyment, the company’s co-director. “The results are spectacular.”

The 12-bedroom boutique hotel borders the McBean Lagoon National Park.

“We have done our best to remodel the hotel in an environmentally-friendly manner, and are taking various measures to manage the hotel in an equally sustainable fashion,” he said. “Our aim is for each visiting guest to leave behind a positive impact upon both the local environment and the local culture.”

Providencia is located in the Colombian department of San Andres.

“We feel that we have one of the most unique properties on Colombia’s Caribbean coast,” Hardyment said.
