The eastern Dominican Republic was shaken by a 4.4-magnitude earthquake early Wednesday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.
It was the second earthquake in the country in less than a week, following the 5.1-magnitude quake near the Haiti-Dominican Republic border over the weekend.
The epicentre of the earthquake was about 3 kilometres east-southeast of El Puerto towards the east of the country, and approximately 65 kilometres east-northeast of the capital Santo Domingo.
There were no reports of injuries or damage.
El Puerto is a district in the San Pedro de Macoris province.
It was the latest in a series of earthquakes in the Caribbean of late. Last week, there was a 5.1-magnitude quake in Anguilla.
Also Wednesday morning, Puerto Rico experienced four small earthquakes, each around 3.0-magnitude.
