Jamaicans Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels led the way as the Windies put on a batting show in the second Digicel ODI against New Zealand on Saturday.

The locals’ strong display led the West Indies to a 55-run victory over New Zealand and a 2-0 series edge.

Gayle starred with 125 from 107 balls and Samuels posted an unbeaten 101 from 103 balls as the Windies posted 315 for five from their allocation of 50 overs at Sabina Park in Kingston.

Gayle swept New Zealand captain Kane Williamson with his second ODI hundred at home, and took him past another famous left-hander, Brian Lara, for the highest number of ODI hundreds by a West Indian player.

The Kiwis posted 260 off 47 overs, led by BJ Watling.

Samuels smacked his third ODI hundred, and his first in any format of cricket on the Caribbean international stage.

The show came after a nine-wicket victory using the Duckworth-Lewis method on Thursday.
