US Virgin Islands Governor John de Jongh paid a brief visit to St Kitts and Nevis Tuesday.

The governor held talks with Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas in Basseterre, focusing on matters of local and regional concern, according to the government of St Kitts and Nevis.

“It was also to renew the relationship between the United States Virgin Islands and St Kitts and Nevis,” de Jongh said.

Douglas previously met de Jongh in 2009 while in St Croix attending the commencement of the University of the Virgin Islands.

De Jongh also visited the St Kitts Marriott Resort and Royal Beach Casino.

Earlier this year, the police forces of St Kitts and Nevis and the Virgin Islands held talks, planning to institute a tactical training programme.

Current St Kitts and Nevis Police Commissioner CG Walwyn, though born in St Kitts, grew up in St Croix in the USVI and was a pre-cadet for the US Virgin Islands police.
