Montserrat Police Commissioner Urges Public to Be Vigilant on Security

By the Caribbean Journal staff

Montserrat Police Commissioner Steve Foster is urging the public to be vigilant about their security, following a series of burglaries in the Brades area.

Foster said there had been several incidents of burglaries, with thieves taking cash from the premises of local shops.

“There are robberies happening both night and day,” Foster said. “Business places should improve their security, do not leave cash inside and make checks before closing up.”

Businesses in Montserrat can increase the use of technology, he said, along with calling the Royal Montserrat Police Service if they are leaving work at night.

The commissioner also said Montserrat’s public should be aware of a reported increase in email scams, some of which have been using the names of local banks in order to appear authentic.
