Jamaican Minister Phillip Paulwell will soon lead a five-member delegation to Cuba aimed for discussions on renewable energy, information and communication, the government announced Wednesday.
Paulwell is the country’s Minister of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining.
“During the visit, the delegation will explore opportunities for further collaboration between Jamaica and the Cubans,” Information Minister Sandrea Falconer said. “They will formalize a strategic partnership to promote the sustainable development of both the ICT and renewable energy sectors in Jamaica.”
Paulwell has said that Jamaica must use science and technology as an engine for growth and development, particularly information and communication technology.
Part of that plan will require improved broadband access on the island, an initiative to which Paulwell has said his Ministry is committed.
