A group of Cuban migrants that arrived in the Cayman Islands in April have been repatriated to Cuba.

There were a total of 27 men and one woman on a boat that landed in Cayman Brac after it developed problems with its rudder.

The boat had also reportedly been low on fuel.

Four members of the group had escaped from security guards at a detention centre in May, but all four were eventually recaptured within 48 hours.

The repatriation took place “without incident,” according to the government. with Cayman immigration officers acting as actors.
