A conference next week in New York City will examine ways to develop entrepreneurship and revitalize investment in Haiti.

The Haiti of Tomorrow Forum on June 7 will be highlighted by a keynote address from United States Ambassador to Haiti Paul Altidor.

The forum, which is being co-hosted by New Horizons for Haiti and Aksyon, Inc., will look at the viability of several sectors for investment in Haiti, including tourism, textiles and construction.

“My intention is that this event will create opportunities that will ultimately improve economic outcomes for the children that we already support with the New Horizons for Haiti programmes in Haiti,” said Dr Ruby Henry, acting president and founding director of New Horizons for Haiti.

Haiti’s economy has shown significant growth in the last two years, including the highest projected growth of any country in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2012.

Henry said the talks would help identify ready capital resources to fuel rebuilding, navigate the practical challenges of international startup ventures and leverage entrepreneurship to help spur social revitalization.
