Bahamas Prime Minister Perry Christie has completed the formation of his entire cabinet, naming an additional 11 Ministers after the eight who were already sworn in Thursday.

Christie now has a full cabinet, the remainder of which will be sworn in at Government House in a ceremony Friday afternoon.

According to Christie, while he would have gone with a smaller cabinet, the “extraordinary” challenges facing the country demanded a larger cabinet able to “simultaneously tackle these challenges on a broadest possible front.”

The cabinet is approximately the same size as the FNM’s 2007 cabinet named after that year’s election, according to Christie.

The Prime Minister also said he would be making mid-term ministerial appointments with a view to bringing some government backbenchers not included in the first round of selections.

Christie announced that Anthony Moss, Member-Elect for Exuma, has been appointed Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Resources and that Cleola Hamilton, MP-Elect for South Beach, has been appointed Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration.

Renward Wells, who won the hotly-contested Bamboo Town seat on Monday, has been appointed the Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Urban Development.

Dr Kendal Major, MP-Elect for Garden Hills, has been named the next Speaker of the House of Assembly, with MP-Elect Deon Smith as the Deputy Speaker.
