Guyana President to Visit Washington, DC

Guyana President Donald Ramotar will lead a high-level delegation this weekend to Washington, DC.

The visit will include discussions with United States officials, representatives from multilateral agencies and the Guyanese Diaspora in Washington.

The meetings will be held from May 12 to May 19, according to Dr Roger Luncheon, head of the Presidential Secretariat.

The President, who will return to Guyana May 21, will be joined by Finance Minister Ashni Singh, Environment Minister Robert Persaud, Housing Minister Irfaan Ali and Ambassador Elisabeth Harper, the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On May 20, he will make a visit to Barbados for the CARICOM- Mexico Summit on political and economic cooperation.

Security will be among the areas of discussion on the trip, along with the country’s expanding basin, investment protection and political issues.
