Caribbean countries including Haiti, Dominica and Grenada will apply a $10.6 million grant from the Climate Investment Funds to carry out activities aimed at addressing the impact of climate change, the Inter-American Development Bank announced Friday.

At a recent meeting of the CIF’s subcommittee for the Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (PPCR), members endorsed a strategic investment programme for the region that will fund activities in four areas, including improving geospatial data and management for adaptation planning, consolidating and expanding the regional climate monitoring network, downscaling and expanding climate projection models and applied adaptation initiatives.

The PPCR is a collaborative effort between six countries: Dominica, Haiti, Grenada, Jamaica, St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Each of those countries has its own national programme and Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre serving as a focal point for the regional track of activities.

The Climate Investment Funds include the Clean Technology Fund and the Strategic Climate Fund, which are financed with contributions from IDB donor countries.
