Haitian President Michel Martelly expressed his eagerness to return to Haiti while remaining in Miami for medical treatment in a video address Wednesday.

Martelly, who traveled to Miami for surgery on his right shoulder earlier this month, had to return on April 16 following what was ultimately  diagnosed as a pulmonary embolism.

According to the President, he has been attended to by Haitian doctors both in Haiti and at his Miami hospital.

Martelly, in a pre-recorded video address, said he was in “good health, and ready to return home.”

He also thanked those who had sent prayers on his behalf, along with congratulating the members of the National Police who have returned to work.

The President is still waiting for authorization from his doctors to return home, according to the National Palace.
