CARICOM SG in Washington for Talks

CARICOM Secretary General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque is in Washington DC this week for a series of talks with international and hemispheric institutions, including the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank and the Organization of American States.

LaRocque is also set to pay a courtesy call on Dr Mirta Roses Periago, the director of the Pan American Health Organization.

On Tuesday, LaRocque met with IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno and is meeting with Hasan Tuluy, the World Bank’s Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean Wednesday.

He will also meet with OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza on Wednesday.

LaRocque’s mission, which concludes on Friday, will also involve a session with the Caucus of CARICOM Ambassadors in Washington.

The Secretary General will be holding talks with members of the Caribbean diaspora in the area and will deliver an address at the George Washington University on Friday under the theme of “Development Challenges and the Role of CARICOM.”
