Haiti and Dominican Republic to Hold Collaboration Talks in Santo Domingo

Haiti and the Dominican Republic will meet in Santo Domingo next week to coordinate initiatives on bilateral cooperation that were part of an agreement the two countries signed in March.

The “Binational Workshop on Coordination for Cooperation” will begin Monday at the Hilton in Santo Domingo, following a proposed action plan and a report on relations between the two island neighbours.

Among those participating will be representatives of the binational cooperation programmes, the directors of the Joint Dominican-Haitian Bilateral Commission, ambassadors of both countries and the Inter-American Development Bank’s representatives in each country.

The findings will be presented at a press conference on Tuesday after a workshop attended by Jude Hervey Day, Haiti’s Minister of Planning, and Dominican Republic Economy and Planning Minister Temistocles Montas.

The two countries signed the agreement on March 26 during a visit by Haitian President Michel Martelly to Santo Domingo.

The agreement aims to strengthen and deepen bilateral relations between the two states.
