Montserrat Hosting Guadeloupe Mission

Montserrat is hosting a four-person delegation from the regional council of Guadeloupe that began Friday.

Guadeloupe has been skiing to strengthen its relations with its neighbours in the English-speaking Caribbean.

The delegation is currently conducting missions into several islands, including the British Virgin Islands and Montserrat.

Guadeloupe’s council is mandated by the European Union to manage a $79.2 million fund called INTERREG IV “Caraibes” and looking for ways to engage other Caribbean countries in sectors including culture, health, environment and green energy.

The missions objectives include the provision of an in-country forum for the two sides to discuss potential areas of collaboration and o discuss Guadeloupe’s intention of becoming an associate member of OECS and CARICOM.

The delegation is paying courtesy calls on Governor Adrian Davis and Premier Reuben Meade and speaking with other senior officials.
