Seeking to attract Indian investment in St Kitts and Nevis, Prime Minister Denzil Douglas met with Indian investors in Punjab during his official visit to India.
St Kitts and Nevis hopes to increase Indian investment in the country in the tourism, renewable energy, financial services and manufacturing sectors.
Douglas spoke to over 100 Indian industrialists and businesspeople on Friday about possibilities for potential partnerships between the business communities in India and St Kitts and Nevis.
Douglas also visited a Sikh temple in Punjab on Friday.
Douglas has called the visit “not only timely but quite successful” thus far.
According to the Prime Minister, St Kitts and Nevis can no longer pursue its public sector investment programme alone; it must, he said, rely heavily on new partnerships with the private sector in countries like Brazil and India.
Following Douglas’ speech in Punjab, he met with a delegation of 20 businesspeople to talk about their desire to visit St Kitts and Nevis and map out potential investment partnerships.
Douglas continues his visit to India with a tour of an 1800-bed hospital facility in Chandigarh on Saturday.
