Consultants Begin Work on Antigua Sustainable Tourism Development Plan

By the Caribbean Journal staff

Antigua is beginning to ready its new Sustainable Tourism Development Plan, with consultants OBMI and T&L Europraxis working on the project.

The team, which will deliver the plan and all related master planning and business planning, met last week with Tourism Minister John Maginley and Antigua’s cabinet.

“The Strategic Tourism Development Plan is critical to the future development of our hotel plant and will guide future investment in the hotel sector,” Maginley said.

The STDP will focus on three main values: economic, environmental and social, with the hopes of aiding in improved results for investors while preserving the country’s “natural beauty.”

“The plan will also seek to attract Foreign Direct Investment into Antigua and Barbuda by creating opportunities that have been carefully planned.”

The consulting teams said their approach would be to work alongside multiple stakeholders in Antigua and Barbuda to define the most adequate plan for the country.
