Guyana’s President Donald Ramotar held talks Monday with United Nations Resident Coordinator Khadija Musa.

According to Musa, who is also the United Nations Development Programme’s Resident Representative in Guyana, the discussions focused on how the UNDP and the UN system can work with the government to achieve its development goals.

She pointed to the recent signing of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework 2012-2016 between UN agencies and Guyana’s government.

The UN will be looking at ways in which the two sides can cooperate to implement ideas in the framework, she said.

Those areas include environmental sustainability, poverty reduction, “inclusive growth” and disaster preparation and reduction.

The two also spoke about the recently-released UN Human Development Report 2012, which focused on citizen security.
