Trinidad and Tobago and Singapore have agreed to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, following a visit by Singapore Ambassador to CARICOM Kemal Siddique to the country last week.

Siddique, who received his accreditation as new Ambassador to CARICOM earlier this month, met with Trinidad Foreign Minister Dr Surujrattan Rambachan in a courtesy call at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two sides discussed possible ways to strengthen ties between the two countries, as well as Trinidad’s role in Singapore’s relationship with the rest of CARICOM.

Trinidad was the first Caribbean country with which Singapore established diplomatic ties in 1971.

Singapore has signaled its intent to improve its relationship with the Caribbean region.
