Haitian President Michel Martelly, along with Senator Joseph Lambert, traveled to the southeastern municipality of Cotes de Fer Friday in celebrations honouring the local patron saint, St Joseph.

Martelly, who was joined by First Lady Sophia Martelly, reiterated his commitment to the development of the area, noting the already-underway construction of the Cotes-de-Fer/Carrefour 44.

Martelly also stopped at Laborieux, where he talked with residents about issues including education.

On Saturday, the President met with students of the College Secours d’En-Haut in Hatte Jolibois about education.

Martelly said he wants to prioritize the development of the country’s outer regions, which he called the main approach to the decentralization of Haiti.

It echoed a call similar to the one he made on a visit to earlier this week.
