The redevelopment of Nassau’s Montagu area is nearing completion.

The Montagu Foreshore Redevelopment Project, a joint initiative of the Bahamian government and Kerzner International, includes beach replenishment aimed at expanding the beach from one to almost three acres.

“The government directed Kerzner’s community outreach programme to Montagu to ensure that this particular project was completed, and we’re extraordinarily pleased with the results,” said Environment Minister Earl Deveaux.

The Minister said the plan had added new vegetation to the beach, including scaevola, sea oats and railroad vine, all intended for beach rehabilitation and to stabilise the dune.

The government is soon going to issue a contract to improve traffic flow at the nearby intersection, according to Works Minister Neko Grant.
