Haiti Talks Bilateral Ties with Dominican Republic; Martelly to Make Visit in March

Dominican Republic Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso met in Port-au-Prince Wednesday with Haitian President Michel Martelly to hold talks on bilateral ties between the neighbours on Hispanola.

Troncoso was joined by Dominican Republic Ambassador to Haiti Ruben Silie.

The Dominican also announced that Martelly had been invited to make an official visit to the country March 26.

The two sides discussed the two countries’ bilateral joint commission, which aims to identify priority areas for exchange and cooperation, including sustainable economic development and areas of cooperation like agriculture, the environment and border issues.

Martelly thanked Troncoso for his interest in strengthening ties between the two states based on “mutual respect.”
