Antiguan National Security Minister Dr Errol Cort is reiterating his stance that there will be “zero tolerance” for violent gun crimes in the country, following its first murder of 2012.

The call came after the murder of Dorothy Prince, who was killed in a robbery at a service station on the island on Friday.

Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer has condemned the killing.

“I am deeply saddened by this brutal killing of Dorothy Prince who was gunned down while making a living to support her family,” Baldwin said in a statement. “This senseless act must be condemned and rooted out of our society.”

Police have indicated that they are searching for three individuals who perpetrated the robbery, which took place on Friday night.

Spencer pledged his government’s “unwavering commitment” to prevent and detect crime.

Prince was the mother of two children.
