Guyanese President Donald Ramotar will pay a working visit to Suriname President Desi Bouterse Friday.

Bouterse has just returned to Suriname following a trip to Haiti with the CARICOM Bureau of Heads of Government.

He was joined on the trip by several Caribbean Prime Ministers, including St Lucia’s Dr Kenny Anthony and St Kitts and Nevis’ Dr Denzil Douglas.

That trip culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between CARICOM and Haiti.

The two heads of state will look to further consolidate relations between the two South American neighbours.

Ramotar will be joined by Foreign Minister Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett and Guyanese Ambassador to Suriname Elizabeth Harper, among others.

Bouterse is currently CARICOM’s Chairman.
