The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development unveil today its multi-year public sector planning programme through 2014.
The plan contains the programmes and projects with budget allocation priority in line with the country’s Strategy and Development Act 2030.
According to Economy Minister Temistocles Montas, the document contains a medium-term economic programme to be carried out in accordance with the Central Bank’s monetary policy framework and the fiscal and financial framework of the Ministry of Finance.
Montas said it reflected the country’s need to implant a new planning culture, and to develop a strategic, more rational vision for public policy.
The policies were aimed at facilitating economic development, improving income distribution and raising the living conditions of the population.
It took approximately six months to prepare the plan, he said.
The Dominican Republic been investing heavily in infrastructure projects around the country. Today, President Leonel Fernandez opened a $4 million housing and school community in San Pedro de Macoris.
