Colombia, Inter-American Development Bank Sign Citizen Security Agreement

Colombia and the Inter-American Development Bank have signed an agreement aiming to transfer knowledge on violence prevention and improve citizen security in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The signing, which took place at the close of the International Congress on Citizen Security for Local Authorities, was conducted by IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno and Colombian Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguin.

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and Defence Minister Juan Carlos Pinzon were present as witnesses.

The congress, which was organized by the IDB, the Colombian Ministry of Defence and the Colombian National Police, looked to strengthen the capacity of regional authorities to meet security challenges.

The agreement is for five years, with an option to renew.
