The US Virgin Islands’ legislature confirmed the new Police and Health commissioners for the territory in a vote this week.

Henry White was confirmed as the territory’s new Police Commissioner, and Dr Mercedes Dullum was confined as the new Commissioner of Health.

“Protecting the health and safety of our people is a paramount duty of government and I have great confidence in the ability of Commissioner Dullum and Commissioner White to lead the men and women in their respective departments to new levels of competency and success,” Governor John de Jongh said. “I urge all in the community to work with them to achieve this success for all.”

Twelve lawmakers voted to confirm the pair, and de Jongh said he was “pleased by the senators’ overwhelmingly positive action.”
