Jamaican Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller’s Cabinet completed its two-day retreat this weekend, finishing with presentations from the Financial Secretary and a team from the Bank of Jamaica.

The retreat covered a range of issues including the status of the current International Monetary Fund agreement, the negotiations about which will begin soon in Washington, and growth strategies and job creation.

Also under discussion was the planned rollout of Prime Minister Simpson Miller’s JEEP emergency job programme.

On Wednesday, Finance Minister Dr Peter Phillips will give a briefing on the state of Jamaica’s economy and plans for the remainder of the year.

The discussions took place at Jamaica House and began on Thursday.
