Sunday’s Super Bowl in Indianapolis was not without a Caribbean connection, with a number of players both for the Giants and Patriots boasting Caribbean heritage.

For the Patriots, Safety Patrick Chung is of Jamaican descent (his mother, Sophia George-Chung was a reggae artist in the 1980s), and Tight End Aaron Hernandez is of Puerto Rican heritage.

And for the Giants, there are even more – from Jason Pierre-Paul, who is Haitian-American, Antrel Rolle, who, like a number of Rolles in professional sports, comes from a storied family of Bahamians and Victor Cruz, who is of Puerto Rican descent.

Giants Defensive Tackle Linval Joseph was born and raised in St Croix, US Virgin Islands.

And, as one CJ reader pointed out, Giants Offensive Lineman Kevin Boothe is also of Jamaican heritage.
