Cayman Gender Equality Law Takes Effect

By the Caribbean Journal staff

The new Gender Equality Law in the Cayman Islands took effect earlier this week.

The law, which was signed by Governor Duncan Taylor in October, seeks to eliminate sex and gender discrimination in employment, training and recruitment and to promote equal treatment in the workplace.

“Whether you are male or female, employee or employer, learning your rights at work under the Gender Equality Law will benefit our islands while creating an equal future for our sons and daughters,” said Community Affairs Minister Mike Adam.

Adam also encouraged local employers to take an online pledge aimed at demonstrating a commitment to the spirit of the law.
